Today is a special day...

It's Millie's first pigtails! (yeah, they're a little wonky... but hey, it's the first time for both of us!)

3 Months

Amelia turned 3 months old yesterday! Currently I am listening to her on the baby monitor, and she is making the WEIRDEST noises in her sleep! They are very squeaky and high. She must get her sleep talking habits from Brandon. Seriously, though, they've been going on for like 10 minutes. I don't know how she is sleeping through it.

Anyway, at 3 months, I find myself falling more and more in love with her! (Though there are still moments at the end of the day when I just want Brandon to take over so I can escape for a bit.) Our neighbor came over the other day and said that she must have some acorns (Think Texas drawl, "Akerns") in her cheeks. They certainly are nice and round. Sometimes it seems as if her chin is going to disappear. She has some arm and leg rolls to match.

She has done pretty good with not scratching herself despite my failed attempts to keep up with her growing fingernails, but she finally did it the other day (you can see it in the picture). It looked pretty bad for a couple of days, but is getting better. She did it right before church, and so we were fortunate to discover (through people's commentary) that there is a Spanish verb "to fingernail."

• She has started sucking on her lower lip a lot (also in the picture).
• We haven't got any laughs out of her yet, but she makes a face as if she is laughing sometimes. Nothing comes out, though, but it makes us laugh.
• She also tries to sing (silently) with me. Her favorite song so far is Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes. We change it a little and say "Eyes, ears, mouth and tongue and nose," because she loves to stick her tongue out to touch it at just the right time.
• She has recently discovered the joy of fingers, especially when inserted into her mouth. Also, she likes to touch our faces and hands.
• She seems very determined to learn to move. When she is on her tummy, she gets her feet under her and pushes. Usually this doesn't do much, but she has moved a few inches on her own. She will go pretty far if you give her something to push off of, though.
• She sleeps around 6 hours in a row, sometimes more or less. I love it sooo much when it's a little more. :)
• She takes a long time to eat... like 45 minutes long, oftentimes.
• She brings greater joy, trials, and purpose into our lives, and we love her!

Name in a Book

We got this in the mail the other day....

It's a lean (Toyota Production System) book. Not unlike the MANY (we lost count around 50) that Brandon owns and has read. He has quite the collection. But this one is a little more special than the others.

Yup, It's got his name in it! About 3/4 of the way down on the Acknowledgements page (Can you see it?). And it's grouped with a whole bunch of other lean nerds (I mean that in the nicest way). He's so excited to have his name in a Lean book! It is kind of neat, eh? Now he just needs to get his name on the cover of one.
