On Saturday, we were finishing dinner when we got a phone call from the Spanish branch president asking if Brandon could help out with their Christmas party that night. It turns out someone from our ward suggested Brandon because he speaks Spanish and we are not usually super busy. We never thought that he was Santa material, though! It was kind of funny watching Brandon try to act the part. He was a little worried at first because he doesn't know all of the Christmas words in Spanish (reindeer and sleighs didn't come up much in Argentina), but when we got there, we learned that the kids could all speak English and were expecting an English speaking Santa. Whew! We had a fun night.
Lately I have taken up a new hobby. It sounds a little grandma-ish, but it is something to keep my fidgety fingers busy. I have started crocheting. I am a lot better than last time I tried (when I was like 8), and have made a very exciting couple of dishcloths (one is even round) and am now making a scarf. Brandon discovered online that there is a very interesting new graffiti craze in which people make crocheted things to fit around lampposts, trees, busses, etc. It looks very lovely. Sometimes it is even done in the dead of night. Nice, eh? I don't think I'll be taking on anything like that soon.
