So... I got a new job a couple of weeks ago, but I forgot that it might be the sort of thing you tell people on blogs. I'm really excited about it, although it's sort of a weird arrangement. The job is being a substitute voice teacher for someone who is going on maternity leave. It will only be about a month long and starts the end of September, but it could potentially be a foot in the door and a longer job at the music school where I will teach. If enough people enroll later on in the year, they might let me take some voice and piano students! So... I am still looking for another job, but I also have one! Yay!

New Job

Oh Say, Can You See?
Until a couple days ago, I never realized how much of a family event the Fourth of July usually is. It was a little weird not to have a barbecue and watermelon with family to celebrate (and to not know ANY one to celebrate with). We DID end up having fun anyway, though, with just our little family of two. We got to go to TWO awesome nights of fireworks and to a car show. This was our favorite (most unique) car:
Yes, the door is on the front. The steering wheel just moves out of the way when you open it. Its an old BMW. It was tiny. Brandon made me be the model person.
At the first firework show we went to, a lot of old war planes flew over. It was crazy, some seemed to be like a hundred feet off of the ground. A lot had props and there was this biplane that was shooting smoke and fireworks out of its wing area as it did loop-dee-doos. This is the best picture my cell phone would take of it:
We found some interesting and different fair-food in Texas than what we find in Utah. They would barbecue these gigantic turkey legs. People looked really barbaric when eating them. We settled for some "butterfly chips." We decided they look and sound a lot cooler than they actually are. They are greasy, homemade potato chips with cheese and garlic sauce and bacon bits.
It was really fun to be able to relax and watch some awesome fireworks and hear good music and celebrate our country's independence and freedoms. We are so blessed!
